Class Itinerary

Classes begin at 9am each morning. Class ends around 5pm for Thursday and Friday and 12pm on Saturday. This schedule allows for the contractor to complete personal business before and after each day of class.

Flights leaving Dallas Fort Worth International Airport will usually take 1 hr to get through security. With Classes completing at 12-1pm on the final day, please allow for plenty of time for returned flights. Flights should not be scheduled before 3pm.

Classes are held in Grapevine, Texas. Popular restaurant chains are located within walking distance of the Hotel (Saltgrass Steak House, Joe's Crabshack, Olive Garden, Spring Creek Barbeque). There are also several unique places along Main Street to visit in Grapevine, such as Willhoits, Big Fish, Tolberts, Bob's Steak & Chop, and several small wine shops. You are sure to have a great time in the evenings.

What's Included in the Class Fee?

Hotel- stay for Wednesday, Thursday, & Friday nights are inclusive.

Continental Breakfast

Lunch is provided for Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.

Travel- Shuttle Buses run from the DFW Airport to the Hotel. In addition, the CPAA will coordinate transportation to/from the hotel to the CPAA Facility. Those who choose to utilize rental cars or drive their own vehicles to the class are encouraged to assist.

Testing and Certification Fee- Saturday is dedicated to testing and certification. Once the applicant has demonstrated the necessary knowledge and skills learned from the class, certificates are awarded.

What will I learn about?

Concrete Mix Design- How it affects the performance of your diamonds and the outcome of the project.

Diamond Tooling- How they are made, graded, differences in design, proper use and selection, and how to achieve total maximum refinement with each tool.

Machinery- The CPAA has been provided with various brands and designs of equipment in an effort to allow the students the opportunity to experience each design and select the best application for their personal use.

Chemicals- Understanding Densifiers and coatings and how they work in conjunction with processing concrete.

Job Site Issues- A large portion of the class discusses major topics that you will encounter at the job site and the most effective way to navigate through these hazards. This includes:

  • Bidding and Estimating (reserved for Administrative Personnel)
  • Job Site Layout
  • Working and Communicating with the GC
  • Working and Communicating with the Architect/Designer
